Bylaw Compliance & Services

The City of Armstrong’s Bylaw Department responds to concerns about municipal rules and regulations.

Most bylaw investigations begin when a complaint is received from the public. Our goal is voluntary compliance. We focus on education first and work with residents and businesses to resolve issues.

What We Enforce

Common bylaw areas include:

  • Business licensing
  • Dog control and animal regulations
  • Good neighbour concerns
  • Zoning and land use
  • Traffic and parking
  • Property maintenance

How Bylaw Enforcement Works

Bylaw enforcement is complaint-based.

A Bylaw Officer will review each complaint and determine the appropriate next steps. The City investigates concerns on a case-by-case basis and prioritizes issues that affect public health and safety. In certain situations, a Bylaw Officer may begin an investigation without receiving a complaint if there is a safety concern.

Submitting a complaint

Complaints can be submitted 24 hours a day.

If the matter is urgent and outside regular City Hall hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), please call the office to be connected to the after-hours emergency line.

If it is of an urgent nature, please contact the North Okanagan RCMP at 250-546-3028, or in case of an emergency, please call 911.
