Election workers play an important role in supporting local democracy by helping residents vote and ensuring the election is conducted fairly and securely.

Join the Election Team
The City of Armstrong hires election workers to support advance voting opportunities and General Voting Day in October 2026.
Working the election is a great opportunity to:
- Support your community
- Be part of the democratic process
- Gain experience working in a team environment
- Earn paid training and compensation for your time
Applications for election workers will open in Summer 2026.
Who Can Apply
You can apply to work in the election if you:
- Are 16 years of age or older
- Are legally able to work in B.C.
- Are able to attend a mandatory training session
- Are available to work on General Voting Day and advance voting days
- Can remain A neutral, impartial, and non partisan representative of the City of Armstrong.
Important Dates
July 2026: Election worker applications open on or before July 24, 2026
August 13, 2026: Application deadline
September 23, 2026: Election worker training between 5-9 p.m.
October 7 & 14, 2026: Advance voting opportunities (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)
October 17, 2026: General Voting Day (8 a.m. to 8 p.m.)

Working an Election Day
Election workers help ensure the voting process runs smoothly and securely.
Typical duties may include:
- Setting up voting locations
- Greeting and assisting voters
- Registering voters and verifying identification
- Issuing ballots
- Monitoring voting stations
- Helping close voting locations
Workers must remain at their assigned voting location for the full shift. Breaks are provided during the day.
Work Schedule
Voting locations are open 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Election worker shifts run between: 7 a.m. – 9:30 p.m. (Hours may vary)
What to Bring on Election Day:
Election workers remain at the voting location for the duration of their shift.
Please bring:
- Food and snacks for the day
- Water and beverages
- Comfortable and professional clothing and footwear
- Any required medications
Required Training
All election workers must attend a mandatory training session before working the election.
Training sessions will be scheduled in September 2026 and will cover:
- Election procedures
- Voter registration
- Ballot handling and security
- Responsibilities of election officials
