Campfire Ban Coming into Effect for Armstrong
Armstrong, B.C. — The City of Armstrong, in coordination with the Kamloops Fire Centre and the Armstrong Spallumcheen Fire Department, will implement a campfire ban within the City of Armstrong, effective Friday, July 10, 2026, at 12 p.m. (noon).
The ban will remain in effect until further notice.
The following activities are prohibited:
- Campfires of any size
- All forms of open burning
- Fireworks and sky lanterns
- Burn barrels or burn cages
- Binary exploding targets
- Air curtain burners
- Tiki and similar kinds of devices
- Chimineas
Outdoor cooking, heating, and ambiance devices are still permitted, provided they meet CSA or ULC standards. These devices must use charcoal briquettes, liquid fuel, or gaseous fuel and must not exceed a flame height of 15 centimetres.
As wildfire risk increases across the region, residents and visitors are reminded that preventing wildfires is a shared responsibility. Human-caused wildfires are preventable and can divert critical firefighting resources away from other emergency response efforts.
The City of Armstrong thanks the public for doing their part to help reduce wildfire risk and protect the community. To report smoke or fire, call the BC Wildfire Service immediately at 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 from a mobile phone.
