Veterans Commemorative Crosswalk Unveiled at Memorial Park
The City of Armstrong is proud to announce the completion of the Veterans Commemorative Crosswalk at the entrance to Memorial Park on Pleasant Valley Road.
On Thursday, June 25, 2026, Mayor Joe Cramer and members of Council joined representatives from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 35 to officially unveil the crosswalk, a lasting tribute to the men and women who have served Canada.
The unveiling is especially meaningful as the Armstrong Legion prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary later this year, marking a century of service, support, remembrance, and dedication to veterans and our community.
The Veterans Commemorative Crosswalk marks the beginning of the future “Veterans Way,” which will extend from Pleasant Valley Road through the Memorial Park entrance and toward the Cenotaph.
The crosswalk serves as a visible symbol of gratitude and remembrance. Positioned at the gateway to Memorial Park and the Cenotaph, it creates a meaningful space where residents and visitors can pause to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and contributions of those who have served our country.
The City of Armstrong extends its sincere appreciation to Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 35 for its leadership in bringing this project forward and for its ongoing commitment to preserving the legacy of Canada’s veterans.
Residents are encouraged to visit Memorial Park, view the commemorative crosswalk, and take a moment to honour the veterans whose service helped shape the freedoms we enjoy today.
